The reunited Rossi / Bob Young song writing partnership has already produced a lot of new material.  Apparently many of the songs have a 'country' style flavour' (but then again so did "Caroline" when it was originally written).

6th September Rhino's solo album launch concert at the 100 Club (a famous small venue in the centre of London) was a big success.  His band (including Quo's new drummer Matt Letley) played most of the songs on the album and encored with "Break The Rules" and "Paper Plane".

11th July Rhino's solo album "Rhino's Revenge" is due to be released on the 11th September by Eagle records.  Francis and Rick play 'guest' guitar on one of the tracks.  It is a good album with some strong material (and not self-indulgent like many solo albums..) - although his singing does take a while to get used to.

30th April A new issue (Volume 5 Number 3) of the FTMO magazine was posted out to fan club members last week - with news and views on the "Famous In The Last Century" album.   The new album is now number 34 in the UK charts.  A bootleg CD-Rom is available in Russia with 16 Quo albums worth of material.  The first bootlegs from the Shepherds Bush Empire concert have started to appear (and the sound quality is pretty good).

23rd April The "Famous In The Last Century" album entered the UK charts at the number 21 position.

19th April A new compilation CD of Vertigo recorded material called "Break The Rules" (click here to see picture) was released in Germany on Monday - with the catalogue number Mercury 542 613-2.  A second promo CD for the "Famous In The Last Century" album has been  produced with the tracks "Mony Mony", "Old Time Rock And Roll" and "Famous In The Last Century" (Universal QUO 2).

17th April "Famous In The Last Century" is released today (Universal Music TV cd: 157 814-2 mc: 157 814-4).  At long last there is news of a single from the album - "Mony Mony" with "Famous In The Last Century" (full version), "Gerdundula" (live at the Shepherds Bush Empire show) and a CD-Rom video of "Mony Mony" is to be issued on the 1st May (actually the 2nd May due to the Bank holiday).  The record company apparently wanted to market the album as a 'party album' they did not want to issue a single and have only just been convinced.  The BBC television Quo documentary is due to be broadcast on the 30th April.  The band had hoped to announce the name of their new drummer but his current band have threatened legal action if he joined Quo - so it is back to the drawing board.  The band's record producer Mike Paxman will be standing in during the various T.V. appearances booked to promote the new album.

7th April 2000 Still no news of a single from the "Famous In The Last Century" album.  Quo have slipped to 55th place (from 38th last year) in the annual Record Collector magazine 'Collectable Artists' poll.

5th April 2000  The official Quo website has announced this week that Jeff Rich has decided to leave Quo.

30th March 2000 Spectrum Music have released a "Volume 3" CD (click here to see picture) in their budget priced "Essential Status Quo" series of releases (as audited sales figures for "Volume 1" now exceed 80,000 copies you can see why!).   It is once again it is made up of a good selection of Quo Vertigo recorded material - although with no particularly rare tracks.  My only complaint is that the release includes "Ain't Complaining" when this is also on "Volume 1".

28th March 2000 The 'Fan Club' concert at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, in London, yesterday was a great success.  The band's gesture of giving out free event t-shirts was a good response to the complaints by many fans at the high ticket price.   Universal records have manufactured a promo CD to promote the new album - the tracks are: "Famous In The Last Century" (intro), "When I'm Dead & Gone", "Old Time Rock And Roll", "Mony Mony" and "Famous In The Last Century" (reprise) (Universal QUO 1).

3rd March 2000 Tickets for the Shepard's Bush Empire concert are now available to non FTMO members.  Another budget price CD compilation of 'Pye material' was released in Germany, in January, with the title "Tune To The Music" (Laserlight 21 102) - it is a different compilation to the CD issued in 1992 with the same title.

14th February 2000 Quo's new album "Famous In The Last Century" is due to be released on the 17th April.  It is another 'covers' album - with 15 old rock 'n' roll songs.  To help promote the album's release the band are playing a special concert on the 27th March - at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London - for FTMO members only.  The show will include the songs from the album (which will be filmed for a video release) and a one hour 'live' set.  Tickets for the show are limited to two per fan club member and cost £25 (plus booking fee) - being available from the 25th February.

1st February 2000  The February issue of Record Collector magazine guotes a value of £700 for a copy of the "Technicolor Dreams" single on Pye records (this song was due to be issued as a single back in November 1968 and only a few copies were pressed before the release got cancelled).  A copy of single was sold last year for the amazing price of £1,100.  Dave Oxley's excellent Rockers Rollin' book was officially published yesterday.  Less welcome is the news that Alan Lancaster (Quo's original bass player) is re-starting legal proceedings against Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt over the right to use the Status Quo name.  The end of last year saw the release of a collectable Russian Quo compilation CD 'Golden Collection 2000' - the usual 'best of' tracks but with a good cover.

10th January 2000  Quo are in the studio this month to record some new songs.  There is also talk of a "Don't Stop" Part 2 album - with more rock based material. There are a couple of new CDs - a various artist compilation "The Night Of The Proms - Vol 6" (German BMG 74321 70562 2) with 'live' recordings of "Whatever You Want" and "20 Wild Horses" and a new 'best of' compilation "Greatest Hits & More" (Universal 564 700-2) was issued in Holland last November. There were a few new bootleg CDs that came out at the end of last year - "Rocking Wild Horses" (Strandfuif Festival in Glabbeek, Belgium 6-8-99), "En Concert A l'Olympia" (Paris 23-11-96), "Night Of The Proms" (Rotterdam, Holland 20-11-99), Still Live At The N.E.C. (Birmingham 16-10-99) and "Keep 'Em Coming" (London 23-10-99) - but nothing really special.
