UK Acetates (Spectres)

This section is slightly different from much of the site. Here we list a number of acetates by the Spectres which didn't materialise into production singles and some of which feature unreleased material. The acetates represent the very earliest attempts of songwriting by Alan Lancaster primarily and Francis Rossi on the early version of "Almost But Not Quite There". Many of these came from Alan Lancaster's personal collection and would have been made in very small quantities - we are lucky they have survived. It is hoped that at a later date they could be made available for us all to hear. If you are aware of any more then please let us know!

You should also be aware that there are a number of fake acetates that have been produced over the years. These can often be difficult to identify, so be slightly suspicious of anything that seems "too good to be true" - Forums like the The Status Quo Vinyl Collectors Corner are useful resources for helping to ascertain if items are genuine through its knowledgeable contributors.
